The Nueces County Tax Office provides three basic services to the County -
property tax collection, voter registration, and vehicle registration.
In 2004 the Nueces County Tax Office issued license plates/stickers for over
253,291 vehicles, processed 74,759 title transfers, and 22,543 handicap
placards, 1,247 beer and wine permits were issued and over $390 million dollars
in property taxes was collected and disbursed.
The Tax Office collects ad valorem property taxes for Nueces County and 31 other
taxing entities, which include six (6) municipalities, twelve (12) school
districts, and eight (8) special districts. The office also collects
taxes for the downtown management district as well as collecting the State
mandated vehicle inventory tax.
The voter registration office maintains the records of approximately 190,829
voters in Nueces County. The office also keeps the voter rolls up to date
and provides voter information to every voting precinct.
