The Nueces County Department of Human Services employs eleven social workers and eight administrative
staff. All of our social workers are licensed by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners. These
workers are active in the community, networking and advocating for the indigent population of Nueces
County. Direct client services include financial assistance with rent, utilities, food, transportation
and indigent burials or cremations. Applicants must meet agency criteria and income eligibility.
MISSION STATEMENT
Nueces County Department of Human Services serves the community by providing emergency financial
assistance through professional social work services. It is our mission to impact the lives of people
living in poverty and experiencing a crisis.
