In Nueces County alone, there are an average of more than 300 children in Foster
Care EVERY MONTH!
The Nueces County Child Welfare Foundation works to assure that the needs of all
children placed in Foster Care are adequately met.
Funding for the operations of the Child Welfare Foundation comes solely from
donations made by concerned citizens, civic groups and other private organizations.
There are NO PUBLIC FUNDS utilized to support the many projects
sponsored and supported by the The Nueces County Child Welfare Foundation
Some of the activities and functions for which the Child Welfare Foundation
requires funding include:
- PROVIDING each Foster Child with a
personal birthday gift on their special day each year.
- PROVIDING the Foster Children with
an annual summer picnic or similar warm weather event.
- PROVIDING the Foster Children with
a big Christmas party each year, complete with a visit from Santa Claus
and his elves. Each child is provided with a full Christmas stocking at
the party. The Foundation also provides the Foster Families with
specially selected presents, which they can wrap and put under the tree
for each Foster Child.
- PROVIDING educational information to
the public on the current situation regarding Child Abuse and Foster
Care. This includes making available speakers to appear at public
meetings within Nueces County.
- PROVIDINGan annual apprecation dinner
or special event to recognize the efforts and sacrifices of those families
within Nueces County, which have undertaken the often-difficult task of
providing Foster Homes. Safe, warm homes for children who have been removed
from their natural home setting for their own protection.
- PROVIDING funds to meet the special
needs of the Foster Children...needs which are NOT MET by other
entities. The Foundation has provided scholastic educational assistance,
special medical aid, class rings for graduating high school seniors,
emergency clothing needs, travel expense assistance and other help which
the Foundation felt would be of benefit to the Foster Children to which
it was expended.
- PROVIDING the opportunity for community
involvement in raising the awareness of Child Abuse and Prevention in the
general population.
- PROVIDING continuity in advocacy on behalf
of all children of increased rights and better protection of children under the
law.
A donation of money, needed items or of time to aid Foster Children in Nueces County will aid
the Child Welfare Foundation in continuing its service to these innocent children, and will
help add brightness to their lives.
